Château Vieux Mougnac

Winery in Bordeaux, Saint-Emilion

About the Winery

Château Vieux Mougnac is a family wine estate since 1870 located in the Grand Saint Emilionnais. Certified organic farming, the estate has kept its know-how shared from generation to generation and continues to perpetuate its heritage. The family cultivates the vines using traditional methods, without weedkillers or pesticides. From this passion for wine and nature, a rare and authentic product is born, intended for epicureans and served on the most beautiful tables in France and abroad.

The estate cultivates 9 hectares of vines, of which only one is planted with the traditional Bordeaux white grape variety, Sémillon. The other 8 hectares are intended for red wine with Merlot and Cabernet-Franc, the emblematic grape varieties of Bordeaux.

About the Wines

Château Vieux Mougnac has been producing distinctive red wines since 1870, focusing on tradition and the nuances of each vintage. These Bordeaux Supérieur wines are crafted from an 80% Merlot and 20% Cabernet Franc blend, known for a rich aromatic profile that varies uniquely each year. The Milhard family also curates rare aged vintages, designed to be enjoyed upon release. In standout years, an exceptional Cuvée is produced, sourced from a 90-year-old Merlot plot and aged in oak barrels. Additionally, a one-hectare plot produces a limited dry white wine made entirely from Sémillon, providing a contrasting aromatic experience that evolves with each vintage. This dedication to time-honored methods highlights Château Vieux Mougnac's commitment to terroir and craftsmanship.
