Domaine du Petit Bondieu
(Winery in Loire Valley, Bourgoueil, Chinon, Touraine)
About Winery and Wines
Founded in 1976 by Jean-Marc Pichet, the estate is now run by his son Thomas, who officially took over in 2012. A true artisan winemaker, Thomas Pichet has an intimate knowledge of the land where he was born. Drawing on this deep understanding – enhanced by experience and time – he has acquired some of the finest soils in the appellation and, above all, brought out their full potential.
Certified organic since 2010, Domaine du Petit Bondieu produces outstanding wines from Bourgueil and Chinon, crafted with respect for the environment, from vineyard to glass. Driven by a strong ecological awareness, Thomas and his team have undertaken numerous nature-friendly initiatives: eliminating chemical products as early as 1998, using no added sulfur during vinification, planting hedgerows to preserve biodiversity... Every action reflects a firm commitment to producing honest, responsible wines that are true to their terroir.
Planted exclusively with the Cabernet Franc grape variety, our production is rooted in two distinctly different terroirs.
On the terraces, sandy soils produce so-called “gravel” wines. Fruity and aromatic, they are delightful in their youth.
Higher up, on the hillsides, clay-limestone soils give rise to “tuffeau” wines – structured and tannic, they reach their full potential after barrel aging and a few years of cellaring.
In Chinon, we work with the Chenin grape variety for the white wines, in the beautiful terroir that makes the wine round and fresh.
