About Winery and Wines

The ELIO estate, with its farm and vineyard, is located in Cividale del Friuli, a UNESCO World Heritage town. In this unique place, history and tradition meet environmental conservation and preservation of local and native biodiversity.  We take pride in following our family winemaking tradition while introducing innovative notes to our production. Our vineyard and our farm unite generations across the decades, linking indissolubly the current team at ELIO estate to their forefathers.

Franco and Alberto aim at one thing: to produce grape varieties of superb quality rooted deep in the surrounding landscape. This is why they have chosen to manage their vineyards following ORGANIC PRINCIPLES of production. They promote care of the environment, respect for biodiversity and the value of craftsmanship.

WHITE WINE

Our selection of white wine offers both grape varieties typical of the region and internationally known varieties that our team proposes using a fresh, contemporary interpretation. The traditional local varieties are our Tocai friulano “ELIO BIANCO”, our Verduzzo friulano passito “MELISSOS” and our Ribolla Gialla.Among the international varieties produce, we would like to draw your attention to our Sauvignon, our Pinot grigio ramato “GALANDIN”, and our barrique-aged Chardonnay “SLUK”.

RED WINE

At Elio estate, we refer to some of our vines as “THE VENERABLE LADIES”; our oldest vines are the custodians of the secret infusing our selection of red wine. Among our reds, “RUBEST”, a blend of ancient varieties of Cabernet franc and Cabernet sauvignon, is the highest expression of our most deep- rooted family tradition. “FIAR” and “DIANA” are matured in oak barrels and are the newest addition to our range.Our selection includes also “ROSATO”, our rose’ wine, and “LAUDE”, a sparkling rose’; both are blends of red varieties.
