Empordàlia is the union of small producers from the Empordà who have been working the Empordà land for generations. We are a big family, we work the vineyards and olive groves as our grandparents and great-grandparents taught us to do, with respect for the land, true to our values, and carrying forward our tradition, for the benefit of future generations. Empordàlia is the fruition of many years of hard toil, teamwork and a desire to perpetuate a tradition. We are made up of three cooperatives in the Empordà region – those of Pau, Rosas and Vilajuïga. Our story began in 1947 with the founding of the cooperative in Vilajuïga. The cooperative of Pau was created later, in 1961, and merged with that of Rosas in the 80’s. The three cooperatives were created with the same purpose in mind: to work together and produce a quality product that reflects the character of our region. United by this shared purpose, we decided to create, in 2005, what is now known as Empordàlia, a name that represents us all.

The partners grow 230 hectares of vineyards and 500 hectares of centuries-old olive groves between them. We strongly believe in the importance of our region’s native grape varieties. We grow Garnacha Blanca, Macabeo and Muscat of Alexandria for the white wines and Garnacha and Samsó for the red wines. We have also introduced non native varieties such as Syrah, Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot. Our olive trees are the Argudell and the Corivell, the two native varieties of the Empordà region.
