About Winery and Wines

Il Cortiglio is a wine and olive farm which, out of love for the land, operates aiming at environmental sustainability. The care of the vineyards, the green choices, the innovative methods of organic cultivation, and the attention to the transformation processes, contribute together to the description of the company values. The link between the Irpinia area and the Il Cortiglio company has distant roots, spanning centuries of history. It is the story of a family that has built its identity to protect its properties and territorial characteristics. Between the 1700s and 1800s, Francesco Petrone was already producing oil and wine in the castle cellars. Today, the heir Francesco Acampora, and his wife Nadijara, take care of the same lands and family properties, safeguarding the history of an ancient agricultural world and the territory.

Il Cortiglio produces wines exclusively from grapes grown on its own farm in the municipality of Fontanarosa. The vineyards are managed organically, and all stages of production, from field to consumer, are handled in-house. The availability of wines varies each year based on climatic conditions and vintage characteristics.

The Aglianico di Taurasi vineyard, planted in 2008 in the Fosso Cavallo district at 600 meters above sea level, produces rosé and red wines, including Taurasi DOCG, which are aged in barrels. The Falanghina vineyard, located at the highest point of the farm at 700 meters, yields a mountain wine. The Fiano vineyard in the Sianana district features innovative vine-growing techniques and is part of the Vitereszero eco-sustainable project, in collaboration with the University of Molise.
