About Winery and Wines

La Quinta Terra started its agricultural holding in 2004, and from then on, we have followed organic farming methods, a choice that seemed natural to us, given the respect we have for the environment and the belief that everyone can contribute to making a difference. We started a small holding that, throughout the years, has given us the opportunities to grow, to learn, and to be challenged, alongwith gratifying moments and rewards.

The adventure began in 2013. The vineyards are planted in the Guyot system or the double Guyot, where the plant is very vigorous. The Barbera is planted in sapling cultivation form. Located at 400 meters above sea level, the vineyards enjoy a splendid view of the valley and the sea with a south-southeast exposure. Taking into consideration that each year differs from the other, we must keep pace with nature and observe it properly to get the best out of the plants and then to transform their generous juices into a good wine to be enjoyed, appreciated, and shared.

At one time, the cellar was owned by Michele Soldati, son of the writer Mario Soldati, whose wish was to return to the countryside and its ancient rhythms. This desire left us a basis on which to start. After having removed the dust and cobwebs from the cellar, cleared the brambles in the vineyard, replaced the dead plants and added new ones in the abandoned fields, we have been able to bring this strip of hillside back to life. Thanks to some structural modernizations, the cellar now has a photovoltaic system thatis able to cover and even exceed the energy needed in its various processing phases.

DOC Vermentino Colli di Luni TZIVETA

The wine obtained from 100% Vermentino grapes coming from our highest altitude vineyards, receiving the greatest exposure. It has typical white and yellow fruit aromas, but also slight characteristic thiol notes. In the mouth, it is full, balanced, savoury, with a persistent after-taste. Although in Tuscany, we have the DOC Denominazione di Origine Controllata) Colli di Luni, which is often related to Liguria, is not actually limited by modern regional confines, but rather by the ancient territory of the Lunigiana that is now shared by both Liguria and Tuscany. In 2022, at the Festambiente, organized by Legambiente, we received a prize in the white wine category with our Tziveta '20, and in 2024, we were awarded the same prize for the Tziveta ‘23.In 2023, we received the gold medal at the Tziveta '22. Le "Mondial des Vins Extremes".

IGT Costa Toscana Bianco CARDLÌN

This is a white blend obtained from Vermentino, Albarola, and Bosco grapes. It has fresh, flora,l and mineral aromas. It is balanced, tasty and persistent and it has a straw yellow colour. All the grapes are harvested by hand separately and vinified "in white” at acontrolled temperature. Once fermentation is completed, the wine remains with its own lees until March, then clarified and bottled. White wine does not undergo malolactic fermentation. In 2023, we won a gold medal at the"Mondial des vins extremes" with the Cardlin '21.

IGT Costa Toscana Rosso COAROSSA

This red blend is obtained from the Sangiovese, Ciliegiolo, and Massarento grapes, which ferment separately in wooden vats where they remain for a total of ten to fifteen days. Once drawn off, they undergo malolactic fermentation, and after approximately fourmonths they are assembled and bottled. By combining these three typical grapes of our region, in the mildness of the climate of our hills compared to the rest of Tuscany, we can produce this extremely pleasant wine. Each grape brings to the wine its own characteristics, thus making it complex and unique. The aromas are of fruit, meadow grasses, and flowers. In the mouth, it is fresh and fragrant with an extreme drinkability. The wine is a brilliant ruby red color.

IGT Costa Toscana Barbera SGARBÈRO

This is a wine obtained from a small part of our vineyard grown in sapling cultivation form and with a very low production per plant. The wine ferments and macerates in terracotta amphoras for about three months. After the racking, it remains in the amphoras for about another six months. The wine is fresh, very fruity, intense and exuberant; pleasant in the mouth, it is balanced, savory, with alingering finish. It is an intense ruby red color. It can evolve; it is a wine that will be appreciated even years after bottling.
