Librandi Antonio Nicodemo

Winery in Cirò

About the Winery

Librandi is a historic family winery located in Cirò Marina, on the Ionian coast of Calabria, where viticulture has deep roots dating back to ancient Greek times. This land was once known as Enotria Tellus—“the land of wine”—a testament to its long-standing winemaking tradition.

The modern story of Librandi spans three generations, beginning in the 1950s when the family expanded its activities to include bottling and commercializing its wines. Today, the winery is led by the new generation—Raffaele, Paolo, Francesco, and Teresa Librandi—who continue to oversee all aspects of production, from vineyard management to distribution, maintaining a strong family involvement.

Deeply connected to their territory, the Librandi family has always been committed to preserving and promoting Calabria’s rich wine heritage. Alongside tradition, they have embraced research and collaboration with leading viticultural and enological experts to better understand and enhance the region’s native potential.

The winery is also a cultural hub, with ‘A Casedda’, a restored 19th-century farmhouse within the estate, serving as a space for exhibitions, events, and artistic exchange—further strengthening the bond between wine, culture, and territory.

About the Wines

Librandi’s wines are a true expression of Calabria’s native grape varieties and ancient winemaking heritage. The production is rooted in traditional grapes such as Gaglioppo and Greco Bianco, cultivated using methods deeply connected to the local viticultural history, including the traditional alberello training system.

The portfolio includes iconic labels such as Cirò Rosso, Duca Sanfelice Riserva, as well as innovative wines like Gravello, Critone, and Terre Lontane, which combine tradition with a modern approach to winemaking.

Through continuous research and a commitment to quality, Librandi aims to preserve and enhance the unique characteristics of its terroir. The result is a range of wines that are authentic, expressive, and deeply tied to the identity of Calabria—wines that reflect both centuries of history and a forward-looking vision for the future of the region.
