An emersive and personalised vineyard experience
Then back into the family home, where you are provided with great food and a fun tasting experience which feels like you're with a close personal friend.
Rafael offers great insights into food and wine pairings and isn't at all technical or condescending. You'll come away feeling like you'll always be welcome back, and there is no hard-sell of the produce. The wines themselves are of really high quality, and have been added my import list!..
The tastings at other quintas felt more sterile in comparison.
This is not a place to miss!!

Great wine tasting
The tasting was brilliant - we tasted 4 different wines and there was great bread, cheese and olive oil - grown at the vineyard - to go with it.
A fabulous first experience of Douro - I would definitely go back!

Perfect afternoon of wine, food and conversation
Rafa (one of the "irmãos") was a very engaging host and forward-thinking winemaker who shared his visions of what they are trying to accomplish in both "the (overall) project" of the winery/farm and the individual wines. Really interesting and impossible not to swept up in his excitement for both.
A wonderful afternoon and highly recommended.

About Winery and Wines
In the mid-1950s, António Ribeiro and his wife Maria do Céu began their agricultural journey with the acquisition of Quinta de S. Tiago, featuring an 18th-century manor house, in Vila Marim, and Quinta da Portela in Barqueiros, both located in the municipality of Mesão Frio near the first Pombaline landmark of the Douro Demarcated Region. By 1980, their daughter Teresinha Ribeiro, along with her husband Eduardo Miranda, began the process of converting the vineyards. Initially, the family's strategy was to sell their production to exporters and reserve small quantities for local consumption.
Their sons — Roberto, Ricardo, Rafael, and Rudolfo — later became involved, each completing academic training primarily focused on management and viticulture, gradually shaping the family’s continued dedication to the land and its wines.
Mãos e Irmãos produces wines that reflect the rich heritage and unique terroir of the Douro region. Their approach combines traditional winemaking methods with modern viticulture techniques, aiming to craft high-quality wines that capture the essence of the land. The family’s vineyards, located in the prestigious Douro Demarcated Region, benefit from prime positioning near the region’s historical Pombaline landmark. Each wine produced by Mãos e Irmãos showcases the dedication of the Ribeiro family, with a strong focus on authenticity and the natural expression of the Douro’s indigenous grape varieties.
