Matuné, which means 'little boy' in the Piedmontese dialect, is the affectionate nickname given to Alberto by the old farmers of the region. Founded in 2015, Matunéi was born out of a passion for rediscovering sustainable agricultural practices and reconnecting with the rhythms of a simpler, more traditional way of life. Nestled in the heart of Monferrato, our winery is a place where time-honored crafts and human connections thrive in harmony with the changing seasons. At Matunéi, we focus on organic grape cultivation, manual vineyard work, and a deep respect for the unique characteristics of each vintage and the land itself. Our winemaking process is simple and honest, avoiding unnecessary interventions to produce wines that speak directly to the palate with authenticity and integrity. In addition to winemaking, Matunéi offers a unique hospitality experience; in 2020, we transformed the old barn of our late 19th-century farmhouse into a charming B&B Suite. Visitors can immerse themselves in rural life and savor the most authentic flavors of Monferrato, making Matunéi not just a winery, but a destination for those seeking to connect with the true essence of the region.

At Matunéi, we take pride in producing wines from traditional Piedmontese grape varieties, including Barbera, Grignolino, Freisa, and Nebbiolo. Our wines are crafted from carefully selected, organically grown grapes from our own vineyards. We focus on minimal intervention in the cellar, with vinification and aging processes that primarily use steel tanks to preserve the natural expression of the fruit and the terroir. Our approach includes the minimal addition of sulphites, ensuring that each bottle reflects the true character of the vintage. The result is a collection of honest, straightforward wines that embody the rich traditions of Piedmont while offering a fresh and genuine taste of the region.
