About Winery and Wines

The property of Montechiari lies on the ancient site of a military fortress destroyed around 1300 by the army of Lucca during a battle against the Florentines. Later it hosted the Customs that separated the Grand Duchy of Lucca from the Grand Duchy of Florence. The old stones, that can still be seen in front of this illustrious abode testify to its history. Today Montechiari gives guests a splendidvview of the wonderful surrounding landscape and offers them interior premises well equipped forvtastings, meetings and convivial moments.

After reorganizing the estate in 1978, 10 hectares of the whole territory were replanted; Chardonnay, Pinot noir, Sauvingnon, Cabernet Sauvingnon, Cabernet Franc and the traditional red Sangiovese vines, were planted by choosing the most suitable parcels for the best development of the vineyards.
