About Winery and Wines

Podere sul lago is a young company located 500 m. above sea level above the Chienti valley, in a small paradise suspended between Lake Borgiano and the peaks that lead to the Sibillini, a place where it is nice to get lost with a 360° view of the Marche countryside.
It is here in Serrapetrona, where passion for wine meets tradition, that Sandrino Quadraroli has built his winery, a small family-run business whose aim is to produce personal interpretations of centuries-old stories. Here everything speaks of vineyards, stubbornness, bunches left to wither, passion and patience. Of a tradition that continues and is renewed every year.
Sandrino's passion for wine stems from his previous job as a restaurateur where, in a village of just a hundred people, he managed to set up the restaurant's cellar with about 300 wine labels.
At the beginning of the new century, Sandrino created a small production activity, and intends to remain so, in order to be able to follow with the most accurate personal attention all the stages of processing from the vineyard to the cellar, with all the passion and love for the land that have always distinguished him.
It is precisely with this spirit that our reds are born, great respect for our past, for the rhythms of nature and a strong commitment to absolute quality.
The company's wine of excellence is, of course, given by the Vernaccia Nera di Serrapetrona, a native vine and the only Vernaccia Nera in Italy.
Only one hundred hectares are planted with Vernaccia Nera di Serrapetrona, divided among eight producers.
The vineyard (about 04.20 ha) created with love by Sandrino consists of a high-density plant, about 6,500 vines per hectare and is worked entirely by hand, from pruning to harvesting which takes place in small crates, which are immediately taken to the cellar in order not to leave the harvested grapes, exposed to the weather conditions.
Once in the cellar, the grapes are transferred to a conveyor belt, pass through the destemmer and fall onto a vibrating selection table where four people – by hand – take care of definitively cleaning the berries which, intact, end up in steel tanks, at a controlled temperature, for fermentation. At the end of the latter, the free-run must is separated and partly placed in another steel tank, and partly transferred to French wooden barriques (in this specific case three different types of wood toasting are used) and processed with fine lees. A special batonnage is carried out every day. After about 13 months of aging in wood, the wine finally ends up in the bottle where it remains for a further year before being put on the market.
In addition to the primary vine of Vernaccia nera di Serrapetrona, Sandro also cultivates international grape varieties such as Merlot and Pinot Noir.
The total annual production is about 12,000 bottles for seven different products.
All the wines have captivating characteristics given by the obsessive care of the vineyard and the careful selection of the product/raw material.

There are seven wine produced in total:

Travenano 100% vernaccia nera di Serrapetrona - selection

Torcular 100% vernaccia nera di Serrapetrona
