Poggio Amorelli
(Winery in Chianti, Chianti Classico)
Reviews
Great day at Poggio Amorelli!
We enjoyed a tasting of five different wines, each paired with delicious food — they were very generous with both the wine and the accompaniments. Our host explained each wine in detail, including its origin and the perfect food pairing, which made the experience even more engaging.
We also had the chance to visit the wine storage area, which was fascinating.
Overall, it was an exceptional experience that I highly recommend to anyone visiting Tuscany!
The only suggestion I would add is to include a visit to the vineyards as part of the experience — seeing how the grapes are grown would make the visit even more enriching.

About Winery and Wines
The Poggio Amorelli farmhouse, owned by Adriana and Marco Mazzarrini, is nestled in one of the most picturesque areas of Chianti, near the charming village of Castellina in Chianti. Part of their vineyards also extend into Maremma, near the village of Magliano in Tuscany.
Marco Mazzarrini, a passionate Tuscan winemaker and agronomist, dreamed of creating a place where time seems to stand still, allowing life to flow harmoniously with nature and preserving Tuscany's ancient food and wine traditions.
Poggio Amorelli was born from this dream due to passion, courage, and dedication. The Mazzarrini family produces high-quality wines, bottled at the source, following the traditional Chianti Classico method.
The family comprises Marco Mazzarrini, oenologist and agronomist, his wife Adriana, and their children Gloria, Raoul, and Amedeo. Since 2016, the two eldest children, Gloria and Raoul, have been actively involved in the business, ensuring the continuation of the family legacy.
Poggio Amorelli spans 40 hectares, with 15 hectares dedicated to vineyards specializing in the production of Chianti Classico DOCG, Gallo Nero, and Morellino di Scansano DOCG. While wine production began in 1987, it wasn’t until 1995—after the restoration of the wine cellar and upgrades to the equipment—that the wines began receiving prestigious awards for their quality.
Today, the wines are sold both domestically and internationally, with a strong presence in Germany and the USA. The Mazzarrini family prioritizes quality over quantity, preserving the unique characteristics of their family-owned business in a global market that increasingly pushes for uniformity in traditions and tastes.
All IGT and DOCG wines are bottled at the source and produced across the family’s three estates. In addition to their range of wines, Poggio Amorelli also produces extra virgin olive oil, grappa, and balsamic vinegar (IGP, DOP, and Extravecchio), all crafted following Tuscany’s rich traditions.
