Quanta Terra Douro
About the Winery
Celso Pereira and Jorge Alves are the founders and visionaries behind Quanta Terra, a Douro wine project that grew from their professional partnership in the 1990s at Caves Transmontanas. Sharing a passion for winemaking, they explored the Douro’s Cima Corgo and Douro Superior regions in search of exceptional vineyards, studying varieties, altitudes, and exposures for two years.
Their journey led them to Quinta do Tralhão, a property with great potential but in need of full restoration. With determination and collaboration with the owner, they established Quanta Terra, Lda., combining tradition, careful vineyard work, and manual harvests. Their vision materialized with the launch of Quanta Terra Tinto 1999, marking the beginning of a distinctive and character-driven Douro wine project that reflects both the region’s heritage and the founders’ innovative spirit.
About the Wines
The Quanta Terra range reflects the diversity and character of the Douro region, combining tradition with a modern winemaking approach. Our wines are produced from carefully selected vineyards located mainly in the Cima Corgo and Douro Superior, where altitude, soil diversity, and sun exposure contribute to complexity and balance.
We work with classic Douro grape varieties such as Touriga Nacional, Touriga Franca, Tinta Roriz, Tinta Barroca, and old mixed vineyards, preserving the authenticity of the region. The range includes elegant sparkling and whites, expressive rosés, and structured reds, each crafted to highlight freshness, minerality, and depth.
Manual harvesting, careful vineyard management, and minimal intervention in the cellar allow us to produce wines that express both terroir and vintage. Quanta Terra wines aim to combine precision, longevity, and a strong sense of origin, offering distinctive profiles that reflect the soul of the Douro.
