Roberto Abellonio Cascina Piccaluga

Winery in Langhe, Moscato d'Asti

About the Winery

Roberto Abellonio's Cascina Piccaluga, a 19th-century farmhouse, finds itself in the hills behind Alba, soaring above one of the most beautiful territories in the world!

We are located in the village of Altavilla, which turns its gaze to the towers of Alba and the unparalleled panorama of the hills of Treiso and Barbaresco. Here, 20 years ago, in 1996, Roberto Abellonio started making wines after taking over his family's ancient vineyards, creating the Abellonio winery, which today he runs with the help of his wife Jessica and his cousin and winemaker Alessandro.

About the Wines

The different percentages of combination of clays, calcareous marls, bluish marls, sands and sulfiferous chalks in the subsoil layers of Cascina Piccaluga give wines of excellent structure, finesse, elegance and persistence.

The precious mixture of soil and microclimate of our hills, combined with cultivation and winemaking technique and experience, are fully encapsulated in our bottles.

Cascina Piccaluga today has about 10 hectares of vineyards, most of which are located in Alba in Altavilla, Treiso, Barbaresco and Santo Stefano Belbo. Vineyards of Nebbiolo, Barbera, Dolcetto, Arneis, Moscato and Chardonnay are grown on the estate.

Fantastic experience
The lady who was our guide, very nice, was detailed in explaining all the steps of the harvest and the various processes, with a walk in the vineyards and a magnificent view.
To finish, the tasting with appetizers, also very interesting. Exceptional quality of the wines, so much so that we bought them.

Guided tour and tasting
We went to visit the winery and the vineyard. We had an excellent time sharing wines and conversation with Rita, the person in charge of the tour. We tasted most of the wines they have and for each one, they had us smell different aromas they had in little jars to help us notice the characteristic aromas of each wine. Additionally, they gave us a cheese and cold cuts board for pairing.
It was a wonderful experience!
A highly recommended place with excellent wines.
I don't have any.
It was a highly recommended experience in every way.

Wonderful experience
The visit to the Apollonio winery was truly satisfying, both for the wines they presented to us and for the tour of the vineyard and the cellar. An informative and substantial tour, a beautiful experience!
Book in advance! Wear comfortable shoes for the vineyard tour, even though the path is on a paved road.

Memorable Experience
Our wine tasting experience was incredible. We learned so much about the grapes, the terrain, history and wine. Our guide was so knowledgeable and personable. We enjoyed tasting wine with pairings. Everything about the experience was amazing from the first friendly greeting to the last wonderful sip of wine. It was a highlight for us.
The pairings were delicious. The pride and enthusiasm exuded by the staff and family was amazing.

An experience to recommend
We were lucky to be a small group, to have found a day with perfect weather, a hostess with all the right characteristics.
Competence, courtesy, friendliness, professionalism and, last but not least, excellent wine, expertly explained and offered for tasting. All of it without ever being boring or long-winded.
A great experience.
What can I say....
An extra trio of accompanying delicacies (it should be pointed out that they already provide two).
7/8 tastings make your head spin.
But I had to fill this space somehow.

Fijne wijnproeverij
