Soloperto

Winery in Primitivo di Manduria, Salento

About the Winery

The Soloperto family’s connection with wine dates back to the early 20th century, when their grandparents recognized the potential of their land and founded one of the first businesses dedicated to bulk wine trade. A decisive step forward came in the late 1960s, when Giovanni Soloperto began bottling pure Primitivo—well before the introduction of DOC regulations—laying the foundations for the modern winery.

Over time, the estate has grown significantly, reaching a production of around 2 million bottles per year. Today, the winery remains deeply rooted in Apulia, with a strong commitment to enhancing the region’s rich winemaking heritage while continuously evolving to meet modern standards and market demands.

About the Wines

Primitivo di Manduria is the flagship of the winery, representing the core of its production and identity. Alongside it, the portfolio includes other traditional Apulian varieties such as Negroamaro, as well as white grapes from the Murgia hills, used in the DOC wines of Martina Franca and Locorotondo.

The winery focuses on promoting native grape varieties, offering a wide range of wines that span from fresh and easy-drinking styles to more structured and complex labels with excellent ageing potential. Each wine reflects the unique character of the Apulian terroir, combining tradition, quality, and versatility.
