Tenuta Belguardo

Winery in Maremma, Morellino

About the Winery

Tenuta Belguardo, located in the heart of the Tuscan Maremma, lies on the hills between Grosseto and Montiano, near the Tyrrhenian Sea. It is considered one of the most important estates in the region.

Purchased by the Mazzei family in the mid-1990s, the property spans 80 hectares, half of which are dedicated to carefully selected vineyards.

This is a truly exceptional terroir, the result of years of research, where an extensive vineyard replanting program began soon after the acquisition, guided by a precise selection of varietals and clones to fully express the character of the land.

About the Wines

The Belguardo estate produces seven wines: four reds, two whites, and a rosé, each of which expresses particular characteristics of the multi-faceted Maremma area. The diverse combination of soil-climate conditions allows for the cultivation of quite different grapes, yielding wines with high complexity and concentration, but also extraordinarily elegant and aromatic; so much so that Belguardo was able to establish itself as one of the reference standards of Maremma.

Wonderful Belguardo
The visit to the Estate was a fantastic experience, from the tour of the cellar to the tasting, to the walk in the greenery. We had an accurate explanation of the entire winemaking process and of the choices regarding the vineyards and the products, with a focus on the territory and the history of the winery, all seasoned with great courtesy and hospitality.
We bought some bottles that we can't wait to taste in the coming months / years, and were able to experience the quality of the Vermentino V also at dinner in a local restaurant.
Especially try the Tenuta, the Morellino, the rosé and the ciliegiolo.
Highly recommended
Thanks a lot!
