About Winery and Wines
Tenuta Borri, managed by Andrea Pradelli, is a historic estate located in the Travo area within the Trebbia River valley.
The estate, which spans around 5 hectares, has been in the Borri family for at least five generations. After the vineyards were revitalized in 2008, Andrea, an agronomist, took over full-time management, focusing on traditional, sustainable practices. The vineyards, located at altitudes between 400 and 700 meters, benefit from favorable pedoclimatic conditions and manual cultivation. The estate avoids using fertilizers and herbicides, opting instead for minimal phytosanitary treatments, and focuses on traditional winemaking methods enhanced by modern refinements. Fermentation is spontaneous, relying on indigenous yeasts, and sulfur dioxide is used sparingly. The estate prioritizes quality and environmental stewardship, consciously choosing not to pursue organic certification due to the local presence of Flavescence dorée, which necessitates the use of insecticides. The result is a collection of wines that reflect the unique terroir and dedication to craftsmanship.
Tenuta Borri, led by independent winemaker Andrea Pradelli, produces around 20,000 bottles annually, offering a selection of nine distinct labels. The white wines include varieties like Ortrugo and Sauvignon, both in blends and as single varietals, while the red wines are crafted from Barbera, Croatina, and Ervi grapes. The entire winemaking process, from vineyard cultivation to bottling, is handled by Andrea. Notable wines from the estate include Don Dante (Ervi), Le Tinaie (Barbera), Mappale 25 (Sauvignon Blanc), La Zerbia (Malvasia di Candia), and I Rovi Bianchi (a sparkling blend). Each wine reflects the dedication to traditional methods and the unique terroir of the Colli Piacentini.
