The estate Tenuta Colli di Serrapetrona lies on the steep hills of Macerata, in the heart of Marche, 500 meters above sea level. Climbing the steep hills, our vineyards overlook the uncontaminated valleys that run from Sibillini Mountains to the Adriatic Sea. Our estate has been created with the intention of bringing back to life the Vernaccia Nera, an old and precious grape variety, all along cultivated in this narrow land strip. A project of revalorization that starts from the vineyards, to the rediscovery of the traditions and the relationship with our people, for a deeper awareness of the richness of our land and the uniqueness of its resources. Hence, the need for a vinification more authentic than the most popular DOCG sparkling version. Originally, in fact, as evidenced by the Yearbook for Viticulture and Enology (1893), from the Vernaccia Nera from Serrapetrona a ‘firm’ wine was obtained, among the most popular in the Marche. A desire which is reflected in oenological research, in-depth study of ancient grape varieties and ancient techniques of processing these grapes. A challenge which then turned into a choice, that of giving to this exceptional grape variety to better express all its potential quality. All this is the Serrapetrona DOC, expression of the values of tradition and the harmony with the land. A ruby red wine with purple hues, spiced with pepper from faraway lands, with old fruits such as elderberry and marasca cherries. A full-bodied wine, with its smooth tannins and the mineral derived from its land, which without sparkling wine is even more enhanced, becoming elegant, complex and long-lived. The pleasure of discovering something unexpectedly pleasant: this is the grape Serrapetrona Vernaccia Nera. A variety of good vigor with medium-large leaf, bunch winged and tight, small black-purple berries, average peel and soft pulp of a slightly aromatic taste.
