About Winery and Wines

In the 60s Nello Gori and his son Alessandro buy the il Pozzo agricultural company, and start the production and worldwide export of Chianti wines. Inevitably, the passion for agriculture and wine is transmitted to the third generation (Gianni and Duccio Gori, sons of Alexander). They establish Tenuta della Luia in 1997. Wines with character are produced thanks to the collaboration started in 2000 with the winemaker Fabrizio Moltard. The wines are modern and durable and perfectly represent the territory, the passion and the commitment to produce them. The tradition of the Chianti wine is enhanced by our fresh and fruity Monticello, while the Luia selection expresses our passion for the super Tuscan style great red wines.

The name Luia comes from a small village in the municipality of Certaldo, and is also the name of one of our best Merlot vineyards located next to this village. Produced for the first time in 2001, it has rapidly established itself as one of the best super Tuscan of Val d’Elsa, becoming challenge for best competitors in the area of ​​Chianti Classico and Bolgheri. This wine is able to express the excellence of the union between the Tuscan land and the Merlot and is appreciated by connoisseurs and enthusiasts around the world.
