About Winery and Wines

Tenuta Masselina is situated at Castelbolognese, in Emilia Romagna, 50 km south east of Bologna on the ridge of hills between Imola and Faenza. Emilia
and Romagna are areas that are united geographically, but have different oenological identities linked both to the grapes they grow and obviously to the wines that are drunk in each place.Tenuta Masselina lies in the Serra subzone, the most westerly of the Romagna Sangiovese D.O.C., a real watershed between the usual production practices in Emilia where white grapes and frizzante wines play an important role and those in Romagna, very much linked to red varieties, and Sangiovese in particular.

There are 22 hectares of which 16 consist of vineyards and 6 of woodland. The cultivated land of Tenuta Masselina is entirely planted with vines and lies between the area of the ancient red lands and the calcareous lands of the lower Apennines of Romagna, associated in places with ravines. Specialised
in growing indigenous grape varieties such as Sangiovese, Albana and Pignoletto, Tenuta Masselina also produces Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc and Cabernet Sauvignon
international cultivars that express themselves particularly well in these soils. At present, about 55.000 bottles are produced. Our vineyards are farmed
ORGANICALLY , and the estate uses SOLAR GEOTHERMAL ENERGY and for its winemaking operations and for regulating the climate in the maturation cellars.
