Tenuta Pescarina
(Winery in Montepulciano d'Abruzzo, Aprutine Hills)
About Winery and Wines
Tenuta Pescarina is an organic farm nestled in the hills of Spoltore, in the province of Pescara (Terre dei Vestini), suspended between the Adriatic Sea and the Majella mountains. Owned by the Cerulli Irelli family since the late 19th century, it is now in its fourth generation under the leadership of Francesco.
Philosophy: Passion, Respect, and Organic
- Certified organic farming since July 2022 (ICEA Certifica), following a process begun in 2019
- Sustainable farming methods: non-aggressive treatments, organic fertilizers, and crop rotations to respect soil health and biodiversity.
Annual production is approximately 15,000 bottles, from approximately 5 hectares of vineyards, with Guyot-trained vineyards and clay soils ideal for local viticulture.
The Headquarters: History, Nature, and Hospitality
- The winery extends across an ancient complex that includes the Convent of San Panfilo (11th–14th centuries) and the 16th-century Sterlich Tower, both family-owned and overlooking the vineyards.
- The winery is located within the convent: beneath the cloister is the "Bottaia," where over ten oak barrels store the finest wines.
Wines of Tenuta Pescarina: Local Specialties Interpreted Contemporary
