Terrante Az. Agricola Francesco de Filippis

Winery in Chianti, Valdarno

About the Winery

Terrante is a family-run winery in the heart of Tuscany, dedicated to producing natural wines, extra virgin olive oil, and other products from organic and biodynamic agriculture. Located in Corazzano, near San Miniato, the estate follows a philosophy based on sustainability, respect for nature, and authentic expressions of the local terroir.

In the vineyards, no herbicides, synthetic fertilizers, or chemical products are used. Soil fertility is maintained through green manure, biodynamic preparations, and farming practices that promote biodiversity and healthy soils. In the cellar, Terrante adopts a minimal-intervention approach: all wines ferment spontaneously with indigenous yeasts, unnecessary additives are avoided, sulphites are kept to a minimum, and the wines are not fined, undergoing only light filtration. Depending on the wine, fermentation and ageing take place in concrete, stainless steel, or well-seasoned oak tonneaux to preserve both fruit purity and terroir expression.

Beyond wine production, Terrante welcomes visitors for guided wine and olive oil tastings, vineyard and cellar tours, and authentic wine experiences. The estate's shop also offers its handcrafted wines, extra virgin olive oil, and a curated selection of local products.

About the Wines

Terrante's portfolio reflects the estate's commitment to biodynamic farming and minimal intervention, allowing each wine to express its unique identity.

Sincero (IGT Toscana Rosso) is a blend of Sangiovese and Cabernet Sauvignon, fermented spontaneously in concrete and stainless steel. It displays vibrant aromas of red and black fruits with soft, rounded tannins and an authentic expression of the Tuscan terroir.

Matilde (IGT Toscana Rosato) is made from Sangiovese using direct pressing and spontaneous fermentation in concrete and stainless steel. Fresh, lively, and elegant, it highlights the purity of the fruit and is named after both the historic Torre Matilde of San Miniato and the founder's great-grandmother.

Angea (IGT Toscana Bianco) is produced from old Trebbiano and Malvasia vines grown on volcanic tuff soils. A short skin maceration and spontaneous fermentation create a bright, mineral-driven white wine with notes reminiscent of warm stone and sea breeze. The wine is dedicated to Andrea and Gea.

OR is the estate's flagship red, crafted from equal parts Sangiovese, Merlot, and Cabernet Sauvignon selected from the finest vineyard parcels. Fermented with indigenous yeasts and aged for one year in 500-litre oak tonneaux, it offers aromas of black pepper, liquorice, balsamic herbs, and dark cherries, with a rich palate, silky tannins, and remarkable balance.

Terrante also produces a cold-extracted Extra Virgin Olive Oil from Leccino, Frantoio, and Moraiolo olives. Lightly fruity and elegant, it combines delicate flavours with a pleasantly peppery finish.
