About Winery and Wines

Torchio 1953 Winery is the story of a family, the result of great passion and hard work. It all starts with grandfather Rinaldo and continues today with his grandson Andrea, who welcomes guests to the historic family property, in the heart of the Monferrato Astigiano, with open arms and full goses.

At TORCHIO1953, we believe that wine is more than a product—it is a story told through the land, the seasons, and the people who work the soil. Located in the heart of the Monferrato hills, in Isola d’Asti, our family winery has been cultivating vines and producing wine for generations. Our identity is deeply rooted in tradition, yet our hands are firmly planted in the present, working every day to craft wines that reflect the richness and complexity of our territory.

Native Grapes, Authentic Wines

Our production is centered around native Piedmontese varieties, with a strong focus on Barbera, the grape that best expresses the soul of our land. We proudly produce Nizza DOCG, a noble and structured red wine made from 100% Barbera grapes grown exclusively in the designated area. Our Nizza Riserva SANLUIS is the flagship wine of our cellar—aged, elegant, and expressive of the unique microclimate and soils of our vineyards.

In addition to Nizza DOCG, we produce:

Barbera d’Asti – A fresh and vibrant expression of Barbera, aged in both stainless steel and barrique to preserve its fruit character while adding complexity and roundness.

Nebbiolo del Monferrato – A refined and expressive wine, aged in barrique, showcasing the elegance and structure of this noble grape in a Monferrato interpretation.

Alta Langa DOCG – Our traditional method sparkling wine, crafted from Pinot Noir and Chardonnay, aged on the lees to develop depth, finesse, and vibrant acidity.

A Commitment to Quality and Territory

Our approach is artisanal, with a strong respect for nature and the rhythms of the vineyard. Each wine is produced in small quantities, with minimal intervention, allowing the character of each grape and plot to emerge. We believe in sustainable practices, careful vinification, and long maturation when needed—because good wine takes time.

Every bottle of TORCHIO1953 carries the history of our family, the scent of our hills, and the care we put into every step of the winemaking process.

We welcome wine lovers, professionals, and partners to explore our wines, visit our cellar, and share in the story of TORCHIO1953.
