Vieira de Sousa Port & Douro Wines
(Winery in Douro Valley, Baixo Corgo)
About Winery and Wines
For over five generations, Vieira de Sousa has been a family-run winery deeply rooted in the Douro Valley, known for its rich tradition of crafting Port wines. The winery’s legacy began with its family-owned estates, or "Quintas," which stretch across nearly 60 hectares along the Douro River. This privileged location allows the winery to cultivate a diverse range of grape varieties, benefiting from the region’s unique microclimate and terroir. With vineyards in distinct areas, Vieira de Sousa produces a variety of exceptional wines while maintaining high standards of quality and consistency year after year. Today, the winery is led by Luísa Vieira de Sousa, who continues her family’s passion for winemaking and their commitment to preserving the heritage of the Douro region.
Vieira de Sousa produces a variety of Ports and Douro wines, each showcasing the distinct characteristics of the region. Their portfolio includes several Port styles, such as Tawny, Ruby, and Vintage Ports. Notable mentions include their Tawny Ports, aged in oak casks for up to 40 years, delivering complex, smooth flavors with elegant finesse. Their Vintage Ports are made from the oldest vineyards, offering rich, concentrated aromas and bold, full-bodied structures. Additionally, the winery produces exceptional Douro red and white wines, such as the Red Reserve and White Reserve, which exhibit the terroir’s minerality and expressiveness. Each bottle from Vieira de Sousa reflects the family’s dedication to quality, tradition, and the distinctive flavors of the Douro Valley.
