Marino Barani & Figli

Winery in Food Valley, Hills of Piacenza, Val Nure, Val d'Arda

About the Winery

The story of Vini Barani began in the early 1950s when Marino and Gina Barani purchased land near the Vigoleno castle. Originally a nursery, where Marino cultivated and sold prized native vine cuttings, the venture gradually shifted to winemaking due to the exceptional quality of the land. Today, the winery is managed by Stefano Barani, Marino’s grandson, who preserves the family tradition. The vineyards, covering four hectares, produce DOC varieties, and the winery began transitioning to organic production in 2022.

About the Wines

Vini Barani specializes in crafting wines from select DOC varieties, including Ortrugo, Barbera, Croatina (Bonarda), Sauvignon Blanc, and the ancient Santa Maria grape. The grapes are carefully hand-harvested in small boxes to maintain the highest quality. The winery is dedicated to preserving its historic vineyards while embracing modern, organic farming methods. Each wine reflects the unique terroir of the Vigoleno region, offering a taste of tradition combined with a commitment to sustainability.

Suggestive atmosphere
Engaging location.
Excellent for every occasion:
From a relaxing and formal tasting,
accompanied by the view of the village of Vigoleno, to the more lively intimate party offered by the charming Ballroom.
Obviously the protagonist is the wine, accompanied by local and artisanal products to enhance its notes and flavors.
Last but not least the service and the welcome, kind, warm and professional at the same time.

Very satisfied!
What a beautiful bubble tasting experience!
Unfortunately we couldn't enjoy the panorama and the landscape given the unfavorable weather conditions (fog), but we were totally satisfied!
Furthermore, the platter accompanied by focaccia was abundant, the cakes delicious, and the wines

A really lovely experience!
We did the wine and chocolate tasting. We were also served a platter with gnocco fritto and cured meats. Everything was really good.
No suggestions, everything was perfect.

Castle visit plus tasting
The visit to the castle was interesting, although initially there was some confusion to figure out which guide would be leading us.

Tasting, not satisfactory. Beyond personal taste regarding the wines produced (unfiltered),
the service was not adequate. Cold rooms and poor organization, despite there being only a few people (initially 2).

Grazie
Stefano

Wonderful experience. Absolutely to be done again.
We were welcomed by Stefano, very kind and decidedly competent despite his young age. He guided us through the tasting of their delicious wines, helping us understand all their nuances. The tasting was accompanied by excellent cured meats, gnocco fritto, and excellent tarts, all prepared by Stefano's mom.
Thanks to the whole family.
We will definitely be back.
