Panoramic Wine Tasting with Tuscan Platter at Cacciagrande in Castiglione della Pescaia

Just 10 km from Castiglione della Pescaia, Cacciagrande welcomes you into the Tuscan Maremma for a tasting that brings together six wines, local food and the estate’s own olive oil and condiments. A member of the hospitality team guides you through the tasting, which takes place in the air-conditioned tasting room or, when conditions allow, in the garden overlooking the Mediterranean hills.
The tasting follows six Maremma Toscana DOC wines, moving from white to rosé and then red. You begin with Vermentino Maremma Toscana DOC, a fresh white shaped by the coastal character of the area, followed by Viognier Maremma Toscana DOC Bianco, a fuller and more expressive white. Rosah Maremma Toscana DOC Rosé, made from Syrah, brings a light, fresh rosé expression to the sequence.
The reds begin with Maremma Toscana DOC Rosso, a blend of Sangiovese, Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon, followed by Cortigliano Maremma Toscana DOC Syrah, a more structured red with a brief passage in oak. The tasting concludes with Castiglione Maremma Toscana DOC Petit Verdot, made from Petit Verdot and showing the most powerful side of the estate’s selection.
The wines are served with a platter of Tuscan Prosciutto, salami and finocchiona, together with young and aged Pecorino from the Caseificio di Manciano. Crostini accompany Cacciagrande’s own Tuscan PGI extra virgin olive oil and three must-based condiments, adding another expression of the estate’s production to the tasting.
Children and teenagers can enjoy the same food platter with a choice of water, fruit juice or a soft drink. Before or after the tasting, you can also take a short self-guided walk through the nearby vineyard, and at the end there is the option to taste the estate’s grappa.
