Your full-day tour begins in Florence, led by a licensed escort who will guide you through the heart of Tuscany.
The first destination is Cortona, a town of Etruscan origin perched on a hill in the Val di Chiana, known as the setting for the film "Under the Tuscan Sun". Here you will visit the workshop of a master ceramic artisan, a true "cocciaio", for a live demonstration of hand-painted decoration, a craft passed down through centuries.
Next, the tour proceeds to Montepulciano, a Renaissance town where you will descend into a historic underground cellar for a guided wine tasting. You will sample five wines, starting with a Vino Nobile di Montepulciano DOCG, followed by a tasting of two different vintages of Vino Nobile di Montepulciano DOCG Riserva. The tasting continues with a Brunello di Montalcino DOCG and concludes with a Vinsanto di Montepulciano DOCG. If you select this option, a light lunch of local products like Pecorino, Finocchiona, and Prosciutto with bruschetta will be served in the cellar.
After free time to explore Montepulciano, the journey continues through the Val d'Orcia, a UNESCO World Heritage landscape of rolling hills and cypress trees, where you can see filming locations from "The Gladiator". The final stop is Montalcino, a medieval town known for its 14th-century fortress and its celebrated Brunello wine. You will have time to walk through its historic center before the return trip, arriving back in Florence in the late afternoon.
