"Cru" private day tour of Etna from Catania or Taormina

Your private tour of Mount Etna begins with a pickup from your accommodation, led by a professional sommelier. The day is a journey through the volcano's two most important native grapes, starting on the eastern slopes of Milo, a reference area for the white Carricante grape.

Your first stop is the Maugeri winery, where the family's vineyards sit at 700 meters above sea level. After a walk through the vines in Contrada Volpare and Contrada Praino, you will taste three Etna Bianco Superiore DOC wines: Contrada Volpare, Contrada Volpare Frontebosco, and Contrada Praino Frontemare. The tasting, which includes fresh bread and local olive oil, takes place in their beautiful tasting room.

The second part of the day takes you to the northern side of Etna, in Randazzo. At Terrazze dell’Etna, you will be welcomed by Roberta, a hospitality professional with a WINTOUR Master’s degree. You'll visit the estate's historic *palmento*, the traditional Sicilian structure for pressing grapes—before a tasting focused entirely on Nerello Mascalese.

You will try the grape vinified in three different ways: as a white wine (Ciuri IGT), a rosé (Rosato Etna DOC), and a red (Carusu Rosso Etna DOC). This comparative tasting, accompanied by a seasonal vineyard lunch, offers a direct understanding of how winemaking techniques shape the grape's volcanic identity. At the end of the tour, your driver will take you back to your accommodation.
