Cellar Tour and Umbrian Wine Tasting at Lungarotti in Montefalco

At Lungarotti’s Tenuta Brancalupo in Montefalco, your experience begins in the villa, where a Wine Educator welcomes you and introduces the estate and its connection with this corner of Umbria. From the reception rooms, you continue into the vineyard for a view across the valley before heading underground into the winery.

The cellar develops over two levels. On the first, you see the fermentation tanks and learn about the early stages of winemaking. On the deeper level, you enter the barrel room, where the wines mature in tanks, barrels and barriques. The visit gives you a clear sense of how the estate approaches both the freshness of Trebbiano Spoletino and the greater structure of Montefalco’s red wines.

You then take a seat in the tasting room for a guided tasting of three representative Umbrian wines.

Trebbiano Spoletino Spoleto DOC is a white made entirely from Trebbiano Spoletino, an indigenous grape with a fresh, mineral character and a style that remains lively while gaining complexity with ageing.

Montefalco Rosso DOC is a red blend of Sangiovese, Merlot and Sagrantino, combining freshness and fruit with a more structured Umbrian character.

The final wine is Montefalco Sagrantino DOCG, made from 100% Sagrantino, a powerful native red known for its depth, firm structure and ability to age.

For each wine, the educator guides you through its grape variety, production method and visual, aromatic and taste profile, helping you understand the contrast between the white Trebbiano Spoletino and the two red expressions of Montefalco.

The tasting is accompanied by fresh local bread and the estate’s own organic extra virgin olive oil.
