Sobre la bodega y los vinos

The name Château Roquefort comes from Roca Forte, a medieval term referring to the rocky outcrop on which the estate is located. In the heart of Entre-deux-Mers, Château Roquefort is an independent family estate packed with history. The covered walkway dates back to the Neolithic period, the fortified chateau to the 13th century, the dovecote to the 16th and the chartreuse house to the 18th century. For the past 40 years, the Bellanger family has been contributing to the rebirth of this unique heritage and is committed to its environmental protection. Over 55% of the estate's surface area is made up of forests, wooded land and prairies. The conversion to organic farming began in 2021. The estate is open to visitors year round, and the Orangerie is available for hosting both private and professional events in an amazing setting that looks out onto nature and the covered walkway.
In 2019, Château Roquefort received the Best Of Wine Architecture and Landscape award.

A good wine is the outcome of both a terroir and a vineyard as well as the men and women who produce it. Every day,
we strive to enhance that sophisticated process allowing our wines to reflect the successful blend of wealth and balance so complex to achieve.
The 107-hectare vineyard covers a range of outstanding terroirs stretching out from the Roquefort plateau that shares the same distinctive geological origins as the Saint-Emilion terroir (asteriated limestone), the clayey limestone soils in Castelviel and the loamy soils in Saint Brice.
The Merlot grape variety flourishes on clayey limestone soils, and the rich aromas of the Sauvignon blanc variety are kept intact on cooler soils of clay and loam. The winemaking, ageing in oak barrels, and bottling are all handled by our teams at the château, with a constant focus on innovation and environmental protection – efforts rewarded by our first High Environmental Value (HVE) Level 3 certification in 2017. Consequently, our wines are recognized as being “good value wines” and we are very proud of them!
