VALENCISO
Sobre la Bodega
VALENCISO was founded in 1998, when Luis Valentín and Carmen Enciso joined their surnames to create a single wine in Rioja Alta. Before that, they had managed a prestigious winery in Rioja Alavesa together for 15 years, gaining experience and an international vision.
The winery is in Ollauri, a charming village with a long winemaking tradition in the north of Rioja Alta. Here the balance between the Atlantic climate, clay-limestone soils and winemaking tradition creates a peaceful and authentic landscape, ideal for elegant and precise wines.
The vineyards lie between 480 and 610 metres above sea level, around Ollauri, Briones, Haro, Rodezno, Gimileo, Zarratón and Villalba. They have been farmed sustainably since 2006 and organically since 2017, with no herbicides or pesticides and with hand harvesting. Yields are limited to 5,000 kilograms per hectare to achieve the best concentration and expression.
VALENCISO exports to more than 40 countries and has received many awards from Spanish and international critics. It is a member of Grandes Pagos de España, an association of about thirty of the finest wineries in Spain, and of ABC Rioja, a group of nine prestigious Rioja wineries.
Sobre los Vinos
Tempranillo, the signature grape of Rioja Alta, is the main variety in most VALENCISO wines: the Atlantic influence in the north of the region enhances its finesse. The winery specialises in concrete tanks and ages its wines in French and Caucasian oak barrels.
VALENCISO Reserva: 100% Tempranillo, fermented in concrete tanks and aged for 17 months in French and Caucasian oak barrels.
VALENCISO Blanco: a white wine from Viura and White Garnacha, fermented in oak barrels, with subtle fruit and pastry notes.
10 Años Después: a red wine made and aged in concrete tanks and released ten years after the harvest, elegant, tasty and long-lasting.
Graciano: a red wine from Graciano grapes, aged in new Caucasian oak barrels, with good acidity, intense colour and great aromatic complexity.
No es “otro vino”: a special edition for the 25th anniversary, 100% Tempranillo from the old Fuenteciega vineyard in Haro, with vines over 70 years old.
