Georgian Folk Theater Performance and Traditional Meal in Bolnisi

Located in the Bolnisi region, between the villages of Ratevan and Akaurta, the ethno-space Karmidamo is a purpose-built cultural venue dedicated to Georgian traditions, storytelling, and live performance. The homestead features an authentically built Oda, a traditional hearth space, and an atmosphere designed to reflect everyday life in historical Georgia. Guests are welcomed into a setting created specifically for theatrical and cultural experiences.

The experience centers around a live theatrical performance inspired by Ilia Chavchavadze’s “Is That a Man?”. The two-act performance is presented by professional actors and includes an interactive element, inviting guests to participate if they wish. During the play, the characters Luarsab and Darejan engage in a humorous and lively dispute over which Georgian dish is superior — Bozbashi or Chikhirtma — and the audience is asked to help decide the outcome of the debate.

Following the performance, guests are invited to share a traditional Georgian meal served at the homestead. The dinner offers a selection of classic local dishes prepared according to regional recipes, allowing guests to continue the experience through taste, conversation, and the spirit of Georgian hospitality.
