IndoVino Lunch Tasting: Discover High-Mountain Wines near Lake Como at Azienda Agricola Citterio Mattia
Here is what's in store for you
Experience the authentic charm of Valsassina, a hidden gem near Lake Como, with this IndoVino Lunch Tasting at Azienda Agricola Citterio Mattia. Nestled in a small mountain village, IndoVino produces some of Lombardy’s highest-altitude wines, grown entirely by hand on steep, sun-kissed slopes.
Your experience begins with a guided walk through the historic village center before reaching the vineyard, where you’ll learn about the passion and dedication behind IndoVino’s artisanal production. Here, just a few bottles of IndoVino Bianco and Rosso are crafted each year, reflecting the purity of the mountain air and the richness of the local soil.
After the visit, relax in a quiet family-run agriturismo overlooking the valley and enjoy a homemade lunch paired with IndoVino wines. The meal includes a selection of local cured meats and cheeses, garden vegetables (fresh, preserved, or sautéed), the hot dish of the day inspired by traditional grandmother’s recipes, and two glasses of IndoVino Bianco and Rosso. The experience concludes with homemade bread and focaccia, Moka coffee, and a traditional dessert, all served with warm local hospitality.
Escape the crowds and indulge in an authentic, relaxing experience surrounded by nature, where every sip and bite tells the story of Valsassina’s high-mountain winemaking.

A special and beautiful experience
My mom and I, visiting from the US, found ourselves with some extra time before we planned to drive from Maggiana to Tirano, and we discovered Indovino by serendipity while browsing Google maps for wine tasting locations on our route. I made a booking request for a Sunday afternoon wine tasting and lunch on a Saturday evening through the Winedering website. Despite the last minute request, Mattia was very prompt to approve the booking.
When we arrived on Sunday, while the small parking area was full, we were able to find another spot just up the road. The town is very small and lightly traveled, requiring about a 30-40 minute drive through twisty mountain roads. The cute signs and wine bottles helped us find the way to the vineyard with stunning views overlooking the valley. We were greeted promptly by Mattia, who showed us nothing but kindness, generosity, and professionalism during our vineyard tour and lunch/wine tasting. His passion and love for his family's winery really comes through in how he talks about their land and its rich history, and in how thoughtfully the 3-course lunch meal was curated. Every element was fresh and local. We had some of the most delicious, homebaked bread of our 2-week trip through France and Italy right here at Indovino. The wine was wonderful as well, our only regret is that bottles were in short supply, or we would have gladly purchased some to take home with us! We'll have to come back, I guess :)
I wish every sucess to Mattia and his family. Thank you for sharing your passion and joy with us. You gave us such wonderful memories to take with us! We hope to visit again.
p.s. I forgot to mention the incredible value of dining and tasting here - we had one of the best meals of our entire trip and 2 glasses of wine for only 65 euro each. In the US, such a quality experience would easily cost more than double.

Magical!
Warm hosts, attentive to the smallest detail, driven (you can see and feel it) by a genuine desire to offer a unique experience to their visitors.
The place is magnificent, perfectly maintained, at once charming, calm and almost heavenly. The work accomplished is remarkable.
The wine is delicious, light, and pairs perfectly with the exquisite cuisine and the present moment.
We also appreciated the excellent recommendations for walks, which allow you to extend the experience after lunch.
Thanks again, and congratulations on your work.
