Amphora Wine Tasting with Local Products at Cantina Gentili near Lake Garda

Your experience at Cantina Gentili, 10 minutes east of the city of Garda, begins with a welcome from Emanuela, who looks after visitors, or sometimes from the owners, Enrico and Elisa Gentili. They continue the work their parents started in 1978, focusing on expressing the value of nature, free from the constraints of large-scale production.

A member of the team will first guide you to the underground cellar for a short visit to see the terracotta amphorae where one of the estate's red wines is aged. Afterwards, you will be seated for the tasting, either under the historic courtyard canopy or inside the wine shop.

The tasting includes four wines, each introduced with insights into its history and unique characteristics. You will start with a Chiaretto Spumante Metodo Classico, a traditional-method sparkling rosé. This is followed by the Chiaretto di Bardolino “Barbagliante”, a lightly sparkling local rosé, and the Souvignier Gris, a white from a disease-resistant PIWI grape that reflects the winery's sustainable approach. The tasting concludes with the Bardolino Monte Baldo “San Verolo”, a red aged in the terracotta amphorae you saw earlier.

The wines are served with a board of artisanal breadsticks, local bread with the estate's own olive oil, local cheeses, and jams. After the tasting, you have the option of a self-guided 40-minute walk along a marked path through the vineyards, weather permitting.
