This small-group experience offers the opportunity to meet local producers, discover traditional cheesemaking techniques, explore a family-run vineyard, and taste some of the finest products Naxos has to offer.
Your day begins at a local farm, where you will be welcomed by traditional cheesemakers and invited to experience everyday Naxian life. During the visit, you will meet the farm animals, help feed them, visit the cheese maturation room, and take part in a hands-on cheesemaking session focused on the island's famous Arseniko cheese.
The experience continues around the family table with a generous homemade brunch featuring local specialties, including two types of cheese, spinach pie, cheese pie, zucchini fritters, fresh eggs, olives, seasonal vegetables, freshly baked orange cake, and the family's own house wine. As you share food and stories with your hosts, you will gain a deeper understanding of local traditions and hospitality.
Next, you will visit a charming local vineyard, where the owner will guide you through the vines and introduce you to the indigenous grape varieties, traditional viticulture, and winemaking heritage of Naxos.
The experience concludes with a guided tasting of 3 local wines and 2 grape distillates (one fresh and one aged for 10 years), paired with an abundant selection of Naxian specialties. The tasting includes local cheeses, cold cuts, homemade sourdough bread with olive oil, a variety of olives, fresh salad prepared with ingredients from the vineyard’s vegetable garden, and additional grape-derived products.
