Naxos Traditional Cooking & Cheesemaking Class
Here is what's in store for you
Experience the authentic flavors and traditions of Naxos with this hands-on Traditional Cooking & Cheesemaking Class, set on a charming hilltop family farm overlooking the Aegean Sea and the island’s fertile countryside.
This immersive farm-to-table experience invites you to spend a memorable day with local farmers, discovering the culinary heritage of Naxos through cooking, cheesemaking, and genuine Greek hospitality.
Upon arrival at the family-run farm and dairy, you will meet your hosts and learn about their daily life, caring for animals and cultivating fresh produce. Using ingredients harvested directly from the farm, you will take part in a hands-on cooking class focused on preparing Gemista, one of Greece’s most beloved traditional seasonal dishes.
While your meal slowly cooks, your hosts will introduce you to the island’s cheesemaking traditions. You will learn how the famous local Arseniko cheese is produced and participate in a hands-on cheesemaking session using traditional methods passed down through generations.
During your visit, you will also have the opportunity to meet and feed the farm animals, including goats, sheep, pigs, and chickens, adding a fun and authentic rural experience to your day.
The experience concludes with a relaxed communal lunch where you will enjoy the dishes you prepared together, accompanied by the farmer’s rustic house wine. As you share the meal with your hosts, you will have the opportunity to exchange stories, learn more about local traditions, and experience the warm hospitality that defines Naxian culture.
