Here is what's in store for you
On the mountain behind Trapani stands the medieval village of Erice, now a city of science, rich in tradition, history, local crafts, and breathtaking views. Dive into local customs and traditions with this tour, which includes a tasting of typical local wines.
In a half-hour drive climbing up the mountain, during which you'll be able to admire views that span from Marsala to San Vito Lo Capo, we'll reach the peak of Erice. Because it is surrounded by walls, the village can be visited on foot, entering through Porta Trapani, where a series of small cobbled lanes will lead you to discover glimpses of views and corners of a truly quaint little town.
Once called "the town of 100 churches", the tour of Erice begins with a visit to the bell tower and cathedral. The journey then continues to the other main churches. As we go further and further into the small village, we will be able to observe the ancient art of loom weaving of Erice carpets, famous throughout the world and still made by hand here to this day.
Of course, we cannot miss a stop to taste the typical Erice sweets and the famous "Genovesi", pastries filled with custard. Continuing through the many intertwining streets, we will also have the opportunity to observe the many remarkable hand-painted ceramics in the bright colors of yellow, blue, and red. Passing through the Spanish quarters, we will finally arrive at the castle and the Pepoli turret which will provide us with breathtaking views.
To fully savor the traditional flavors of the territory, the tour includes a tasting of typical local products accompanied by a glass of sweet Marsala wine and a glass of Zibibbo wine.
