Tasting of 6 Valpolicella Classics with Amarone at Vantorosso in Marano di Valpolicella
Here is what's in store for you
Your host at Vantorosso will either the owner, Vanni Pasquali, a former rally driver, or the winery's sommelier, Anna. The winery is located in Marano di Valpolicella, around 30 minutes north of Verona.
The experience begins with a tour of the cellar, where you'll learn about the winemaking philosophy, production methods, and aging techniques behind Vantorosso's wines. Following the tour, you'll settle in for the guided tasting, held in the tasting room or on the porch, depending on the weather. The tasting is a complete journey through the appellations of the Verona wine region, featuring six representative wines:
- Vanni IGT Bianco: A fresh, bright white from native Veronese grapes, crisp and easy-drinking—the ideal opener.
- Valpolicella Classico DOC: Light and vibrant, with juicy red-cherry fruit; the everyday, food-friendly face of Valpolicella.
- Valpolicella Ripasso Classico Superiore DOC: The "baby Amarone," re-fermented on Amarone skins for extra body, warmth, and gentle spice.
- Vanni Rosso Veronese IGT: Vantorosso's signature red, a blend with depth and personality beyond the classic appellation rules.
- Amarone della Valpolicella Classico DOCG: The region's icon, made from dried grapes—powerful, full-bodied, and velvety, with notes of dried fruit and chocolate.
- Recioto della Valpolicella DOCG: The ancestor of Amarone and Valpolicella's historic dessert wine, richly sweet with candied-cherry fruit and a silky finish.
This experience offers a comprehensive look at the Valpolicella territory, from its classic expressions to its iconic Amarone, guided by the people who craft them.
