Wine tasting and tour at Saó del Coster in Gratallops, Priorat

Wonderful robust reds. Tasting is of ready to drink selections 2015- 2023 est, depend the variety. Patrick gave a great overview of the land and organic vineyard farming from the scenic terrace of the intown winery with local nibbles. Below the terrace burried in the hillside is the active fermenting etc. Finally we descended into the cellar. Lots of fun.
We were new to the old Carignan grapes and particularly enjoyed those wines and blends. For a casual guy, his attention to detail in the whole shows through. Even the nibble had the best Iberican ham I have had in Spain.

Muy buena estancia con Patrick, tanto mi pareja como yo estuvimos muy comodos y al ser una bodega pequeña nos conto todo sobre la bodega y pudimos observar cada rincón de ella y de como son los vinos del Priorat. Realmente el vino era muy suave y bueno. Lo rec0miendo.
Me quede con ganas de probar los vinos mas selectivos aunque hubiera tenido que pagar un poco mas.

Primera vegada que fem un tast de vins i va ser genial. La Sonia tota una experta, explica amb tot detall el procès vinícola i respon a qualsevol dubte que es pugui tenir,sense menspreuar el Patrick. Varietat de vins molt bona i de molta qualitat per ser un celler petit. Recomano gaudir de la terrassa i les vistes del celler, també.

Les bodegues són molt acollidores. És una bodega petitona, però que produeixen grans varietats de vi. Al llarg de la visita vas fent la cata de 5-6 vins diferents, amb una mica de pica-pica. La qualitat del vi és excel·lent, i l'explicació i la visita és molt propera i agradable. 100% recomenable.

La visita guiada fue muy interesante y enriquecedora: 5 vinos tintos excelentes, cada uno bien explicado, acompañados de una tabla de embutidos de buena calidad y todo por un precio más que correcto. Además, el propietario transmite muy bien su pasión por el vino.

Ahora bien, hubo ciertos aspectos que nos sorprendieron negativamente. Al hacer la reserva elegí que la visita fuera en catalán, ya que la bodega está en Catalunya y la web daba la opción de escogerlo. Sin embargo, la persona que nos hizo la guía y presentó las bodegas no lo hablaba.

Por otro lado, durante la explicación notamos que la atención estuvo mayormente dirigida hacia mí (hombre) en lugar de repartirse de manera equilibrada también hacia mi pareja. Esto nos hizo sentir un poco incómodos, ya que la experiencia es algo que compartimos los dos por igual. Sería genial que en futuras ocasiones se procure involucrar a todos los asistentes de manera equitativa, ya que así la vivencia resulta mucho más completa.

Por lo demás, es una cata y una visita muy recomendable, interesante y con una excelente relación calidad-precio.
Creo que la guía fue estuvo muy bien si no fuera por esas dos cosas que, des de mi punto de vista, necesitan un cambio. Muchas gracias.

We spent a couple of wonderful hours at Sau Del Costa with Patrick, whose storytelling made the history and character of Priorat wines truly come alive. He’s a natural host - knowledgeable, engaging, and clearly passionate about the region and its revival. The tasting was accompanied by delicious local bites, sweeping views, and some truly standout wines that showcase what makes Priorat special. A great balance of learning, laughter, and discovery. Wholeheartedly recommended.
Definitely try La Pujada… it’s an exceptional wine with an interesting history.

Sehr informative Führung auf Deutsch, hervorragende Beköstigung mit ausgezeichneten Schinken, Käse und Wurstspezialitäten, leckere Weine, die alle verköstigt wurden. Leider nur drei erschwingliche Weine unter 30 Euro. Sehr netter Gastgeber.
