Wine Tasting at Lipovac Winery by Skadar Lake in Montenegro
Here is what's in store for you
Join us for a memorable tour of Lipovac Winery, the largest private winery in Montenegro, nestled on the scenic slopes of Skadar Lake. With a winemaking tradition dating back to the 3rd century BC, this winery showcases the rich history of Montenegrin viticulture, evidenced by ancient amphorae and jugs discovered during archaeological digs. During your visit, you will learn about the evolution of winemaking in Montenegro, sample exquisite wines crafted from local grape varieties, and take in breathtaking views of the surrounding landscapes.
Your tour includes a guided visit to the Lipovac vineyards, featuring indigenous grape varieties set against stunning mountain vistas and lush nature. Later, tour around the state-of-the-art technological hall with advanced bottling lines and the estate's remarkable 60-meter-long, 10-meter-deep underground cellar filled with French oak barrels and bottles. In Lipovac's cellar, you will discover the ancient Georgian clay qvevri, recognized by UNESCO for its cultural significance since 2011, as well as Italian terracotta amphorae, allowing you to taste wines crafted using techniques from ancient Greece and Rome.
Finally, conclude your experience with a tasting of four exceptional wines paired with specially crafted snacks:
- Lipovac Idea: A dry white wine made from Chardonnay, featuring a light golden hue and notes of fresh flowers and white peach.
- Lipovac Harmonia: The only rosé made from Vranac grapes, this dry wine offers a unique color and flavors of raspberry and wild strawberry.
- Lipovac Concept: A medium-structured dry red wine with a ruby red color and juicy ripe fruit notes.
- Lipovac Model: A premium dry red wine with a garnet color, known for its elegant structure and fruity aroma, ideal for aging.

A very nice tasting
We were able to discover the wine aged in amphora and tasted very good wines, notably the red, all accompanied by a charcuterie and cheese board, followed by a short tour of the cellar. The two hosts were also very friendly.
