Textura Wines
(Winery in Guarda)

Provides 5 wine tastings and winery visit from €58.00
Textura Wines is a family project that began in 2018 in the Dão region, on the slopes of Serra da Estrela, focusing on organic viticulture, terroir-driven wine production, and wine tourism. The project initially involved sourcing existing vineyards in a region known for its small growers. Today, it encompasses 28 hectares of vineyards spread across eight different plots in Vila Nova de Tazem and Penalva do Castelo. The winery practices low-intervention winemaking, allowing the unique soil and location of each vineyard to shine through in wines that are both elegant and distinctive. The Textura vineyards, which range from 18 to 50 years old, have been certified for organic viticulture since 2023. These vineyards are located in two sub-regions: Serra da Estrela (Vila Nova de Tazem) and Castendo (Penalva do Castelo). The diverse soils, altitudes, exposures, and microclimates contribute to the distinctiveness of the wines. Granite soils predominate, with vineyards situated at altitudes of up to 620 meters. Textura Wines is deeply committed to respecting the local environment and biodiversity, preserving natural and cultural resources, and supporting local development. These principles are at the heart of the winery's mission, guiding every aspect of its operations.

QUINTA DA ESPINHOSA
(Winery in Guarda)

Quinta da Espinhosa was born from the dream of its founder Alberto Oliveira Pinto. Over many years, with the help of his father, José António Lopes, he acquired small properties that he annexed, the first being his favorite place, «Espinhosa». These vineyards are planted between 500 and 600 meters of altitude, with noble grape varieties from the Dão region as well as very old varieties, some of which are almost residual. Having been one of the first farms to produce and bottle wines under its own brand, it continues today, around 50 years later, to produce high quality wines with the elegance and freshness typical of the Serra da Estrela sub-region. The Demarcated Dão Wine Region is located in the interior-north of Portugal. The rugged relief of the mountains that surround it protects the vineyards from maritime and continental winds. In this vast region, we find Quinta da Espinhosa, located in Vila Nova de Tazem, sub-region of Serra da Estrela, with vineyards planted with the region's noble red and white grape varieties, some of which are already centuries old. Quinta da Espinhosa can be proud of having the most prestigious Dão wines, with unique characteristics and linked to the secrets of high-altitude wines. Planned and structured, one of the secrets of its wines is the excellent location of the farm, convenient exposure to the sun, choice of noble grape varieties that guarantee high quality, even if this determines a reduction in the quantities produced. The process of cultivation and constant monitoring of the vineyards is also important. Quinta da Espinhosa is in integrated production and all treatments are monitored and certified by Apidão – an external entity that certifies the non-use of toxic products. The Dão Regional Wine Commission certifies the quality of the wines. Quinta da Espinhosa wines are recognized and awarded in national and international competitions where they compete, with several gold and silver medals and diplomas of honor. Enjoy our wines sparingly and in moderation, thus contributing to a healthier, happier and longer life.
