Quinta de Lourosa (Sousela) is in the River Sousa valley, in the heart of the Vinho Verde Route.
With its chapel from the 17th century and its farmhouse eaves from the 18th, the estate has been renewed in the last decades thanks to the efforts of Viticulture Professor Rogério de Castro.
The Professor’s affection for the estate is shared by his family: his wife, children, and grandchildren all participate in the everyday farm tasks. Assisted by his daughter, Joana de Castro, winemaker, he turned Quinta de Lourosa into a place where the respect for nature and tradition goes along with technical innovation and experimentation in winegrowing
Quevedo The Lodge
(Winery in Porto)
Provides 1 wine tasting and winery visit from €50.00
Although the Quevedo Family has been producing Port Wine for more than 5 generations, the actual company was only founded in 1993. This makes us one of the most recent Port Wine Houses from the Douro. With less than 30 years of existence, we feel we are at the beginning of our journey and every day is a fresh page added to what we like to do most: explore all the ways wines can be enjoyed.
We are proud to be able to share our wines & passion directly with our visitors & friends in Vila Nova de Gaia! Visit our lodge and enjoy our Port and Douro wines and much more! You can choose among our pre-set wine tastings or directly pick your favorite and try it by the glass. If you dare to go for a wider gastronomic experience, we recommend you to try the Port & Chocolate or the Port & Cheese pairings. If you only want something to go along with a nice time with your friends, savor our snacks and cocktails!
The impressive building dates back 200 years and it has a close relation to the Port Wine world. It was originally used as a cooperage that manufactured barrels and casks for the Port houses in Vila Nova de Gaia. In the 1950s, with the increasing usage of stainless steel vats, the business was turned into a wooden box manufacturer (boxes which were used to contain Port bottles), until the ‘90s, when it was transformed into a Port wine tasting room.
Finally, we acquired this lodge in 2020 to be able to share our wines and passion directly with our guests in Vila Nova de Gaia.
Burmester
(Winery in Porto)
Burmester is a distinguished brand known for its exceptional Port and DOC Douro wines, with a rich history that began in London in 1750. Founded by Henry Burmester and John Nash, the company quickly established itself by exporting Port wine from Vila Nova de Gaia to Europe. Burmester's British roots and dedication to quality have made it a renowned name in over 30 countries. The company passed through generations until 1834, when Johann Wilhelm Burmester, a descendant of the founder, revitalized the business, solidifying its reputation for elegance and individuality.
J. W. Burmester, who initially started as a clerk, became the company's manager and eventually its owner, demonstrating remarkable courage and vision. Under his leadership, Burmester expanded its influence and continued to honor its terroir, which became a distinctive trait of its wines. The tragic death of J. W. Burmester in 1885, when he was overcome by a wave at Cadouços beach, marked a poignant moment in the company's history, but his children continued the family legacy, ensuring that Burmester remained a symbol of excellence in the wine industry. Today, Burmester's wines are celebrated for their elegance and the strong sense of tradition that defines the brand.
Quinta Lixa-sociedade Agrícola Lda
(Winery in Porto)
The Quinta da Lixa is a living testament to the passion that the Meireles family has always had for Vinho Verde.
This family has a number of business interests, and, while still it owned the vineyards around the small town of Vila da Lixa, it decided in 1986 to set up a small firm, and this became what is now known as the Quinta da Lixa - Sociedade Agrícola, Lda. At first the wines produced were sold in bulk, but it soon became clear that their quality and popularity was such that estate bottling was required. The increase in production made it necessary to build new facilities to replace the original winnery since this was no longer able to ensure the standards of quality for which the Company was noted.
Quinta de Gomariz
(Winery in Porto)
Located in the Sub-Region of Vale do Ave, heart of the Vinho Verde, between the cities of Oporto and Braga. Within an area of approximately 17 hectares, the vineyard has excellent features for producing high quality Vinho Verde.
Calçada Wine Estate
(Winery in Porto)
The origins of the Casa da Calçada building hearken back to a time when there was no strict record keeping. It is not possible, then, to pinpoint the precise year of the construction of this palace. It's known that it was at first the residence of the Redondo Counts, a title created in 1500 by the king D. Manuel I, and that the oldest reference available to the Casa da Calçada is a blueprint dated 1707.
This palace was a focus of the crown's power and authority, represented in the região by the most favored local nobility. Luís de Camões even got to dedicate a stanza to the Redondo Counts in his epic poem "Os Lusíadas". Casa da Calçada begins its life not just as a symbol of the importance of those that inhabit it, but also of the of the city of Amarante within its region.
Fonseca Port Wine Cellars
(Winery in Porto)
Fonseca belongs in the first league of vintage port houses. Few port producers have maintained such consistency of quality and style from vintage to vintage.
From the legendary 1840, Fonseca's first Vintage Port release, to the superb declared vintages of the last decade, the house has produced a succession of highly acclaimed wines even in the most adverse moments of history.
