Azienda Agricola Cascina Piano

Winery in Lake Maggiore

About the Winery

Nestled on the picturesque shores of Lake Maggiore in Angera, Lombardy, Cascina Piano has become a renowned producer of high-quality "Ronchi Varesini" IGT wines. Established in 2003, the winery has been a pioneer in promoting the "Ronchi Varesini IGT" certification, dedicated to excellence, innovation, and a deep-rooted connection to the land. Cascina Piano’s mission is to harmonize the unique characteristics of the "Ronchi Varesini" region and Lake Maggiore with the latest advancements in viticulture and winemaking.

The winery places a strong emphasis on the enhancement of indigenous grape varieties, particularly Nebbiolo, and reviving those that have been partially abandoned. In its pursuit of excellence, Cascina Piano collaborates with "Ampelidea," a consultancy that guides the adoption of new cultivation and winemaking techniques, ensuring that each wine produced reflects the true essence of the local terroir.

The artistry of Cascina Piano extends beyond the vineyard to its wine labels, which are inspired by local frescoes and historical references. The names of the wines and the dialectal rhymes featured on the bottles tell stories of the region’s rich cultural and artistic heritage, making each bottle not just a product, but a piece of local history.

About the Wines

Cascina Piano's portfolio of "Ronchi Varesini" IGT wines is led by its distinguished red wines, particularly those made with Nebbiolo grapes.

Primenebbie: This 100% Nebbiolo wine is the flagship of Cascina Piano, celebrated for its softness, elegance, and remarkable aging potential. Primenebbie finds its natural balance in the unique terroir of the "Ronchi Varesini" region, offering a refined wine with a full body, abundant aromas, and a distinctive local character that reflects the landscape overlooking Lake Maggiore.

Angliano: A robust blend of 70% Nebbiolo and 30% Croatina, Angliano is characterized by its deeper color, fuller body, and spicier notes. It is a structured yet elegant wine, perfectly rounded and well-suited for pairing with traditional local dishes, including red meat, game, and aged cheeses.

Nebbiolo takes center stage in the red wines of Cascina Piano, embodying the winery's dedication to this noble grape.

The white wines of "Ronchi Varesini IGT" are crafted to complement the region's renowned fish dishes from Lake Maggiore.

San Quirico: Leading the white wine range, San Quirico is predominantly made from Chardonnay, with a touch of local experimentation that adds a unique twist. This wine is the ideal pairing for lake fish, such as the celebrated perch, as well as white meats and a variety of cheeses.
Cascina Piano's wines are a testament to the rich heritage and natural beauty of the "Ronchi Varesini" region, offering wine lovers a true taste of the land with every sip.

Between glasses and aromas: discovery and pleasure in tasting wines
The wine tasting was pleasant and interesting. I tasted several wines, from fresh whites to more full-bodied reds, appreciating different aromas and flavors. The atmosphere was relaxed and the sommeliers' explanations made the experience simple and engaging. A great way to discover new wines and refine the palate without stress.
I have no suggestions, it was a great experience!

Beautiful experience
Cascina Piano farm, a small establishment in the Varese hills, Angera area of Lake Maggiore, run by a young couple who are very knowledgeable and above all passionate, a feeling they manage to fully convey. A pleasant walk through the very well-kept vineyards, enjoying a wonderful view of Lake Maggiore.
We were able to taste their excellent quality wine (which we also purchased), accompanied by detailed explanations, unhurriedly in an almost family-like atmosphere.
The shuttle service offered by the owners was very convenient: they came to pick us up in the parking lot at the foot of the hill and then drove us back.
Recommended experience.

Fabulous
We came to Italy for our honeymoon and decided to have a vineyard tour and wine tasting at Azienda Agricola Cascina Piano. From start to finish, the process was easy, there was great communication between us and Francesca. We were staying in Stresa and Francesca gave us information on how to get there and what time. We ended up arriving early, and we were met at the ferry port by Francesca, who drove us to the vineyard. The tour was fascinating and Francesca was lovely, explaining the history of the vineyard and how her father started it when he retired. Talking to us about the wines and how they are made, helped us to fully appreciate the beautiful (and delicious) produce that comes from Azienda Agricola Cascina Piano. For the wine tasting, we went on a journey from white, to rosé, red to dessert, each one as delicious as the last or more! We had a wonderful time and would absolutely recommend this experience!

Lovely experience with friendly staff
Our wine-tasting was a lovely experience and one of our favourite memories from our holiday.

The location was beautiful and worth the many narrow and twisty roads to get there. The staff were very friendly and attentive, answering all our questions about both the wine and the local area.

Of course the wine was delicious, and also affordable enough to bring a few bottles back with us!

I would definitely recommend this experience.

Highly recommended!
It was a truly special experience: the guided tour, private and with attention to the smallest details, allowed us to discover the history, passion, and commitment that the owners put into their work every day.

Very kind and super helpful, they welcomed us warmly and made us feel at home, telling us about the region and having us taste excellent wines. It was a beautiful way to get to know the local treasures better and support the wine tourism of our region.

If you are in the area, don't miss this gem: an authentic experience, immersed in nature and the passion for wine.
