About Winery and Wines
Dogliani, the capital of the south-western Langhe, lies in a natural hollow surrounded by hills covered with vineyards. The culture of wine is deeply rooted thanks to centuries of rural tradition and everyday contact with vineyards and cellars. The farmhouse is the heart of life: among the many reasons and ways to approach wine, one is to discover up close the traditional methods still used in the countryside, as can be experienced with the wines of La Fusina.
As far back as 1792, as testified by an old map found in the farm’s loft, the La Fusina estate was partly cultivated with vineyards on the sunny slopes and with grassland and wheat in the valley bottom. The current owners, Luigi Abbona and his family, have been living at La Fusina since 1914, and from the beginning, work in the vineyards and winemaking have been the main activities: 18 out of the 20 hectares of the farm are cultivated with vines.
The hamlet of Santa Lucia, where La Fusina is located, is one of the most charming places in the Dogliani area. The beauty and peacefulness of the countryside, the land particularly suited to vines, the favorable exposure of the vineyards, and the careful work in the cellar all contribute to the production of high-quality wines, versatile and full of character, ready to impress even the most demanding palates.
The wines are produced from vineyards owned by La Fusina. The production includes a sparkling wine, Alta Langa DOCG Extra Brut, two white wines, Langhe Chardonnay and Langhe Sauvignon, and several red wines, including Dogliani, Langhe Pinot Nero, Barolo, Langhe Nebbiolo, and Barbera d'Alba Superiore.
