Bodega Bela
(Winery in Ribera del Duero)
About Winery and Wines
Bela is a tribute to the founders of CVNE, brought to life through singular vineyards and a state-of-the-art winery. Established in 2017 in Villalba de Duero, Bela represents CVNE’s entry into the Ribera del Duero region with a project rooted in estate-owned vineyards across different villages within the denomination.
The winery rises impressively from the plains of Ribera del Duero, featuring a bold design of wood and glass. It spans over 6,000 square meters, including a subterranean barrel room that holds up to 10,000 barrels, a modern vinification hall, and a tasting room. At the entrance, visitors are welcomed by a terrace and a green rooftop. All of this is surrounded by over 74 hectares of vineyards.
This avant-garde winery continues CVNE’s commitment to artisanal and traditional winemaking, offering a unique wine tourism destination in the heart of the denomination.
Bela is named after Sofía Real de Asúa, affectionately called “Bela” by her family, daughter of CVNE’s co-founder Eusebio Real de Asúa, and great-grandmother of today’s owners. The three stars on Bela’s wine labels represent Bela and her siblings, Áurea Minerva and Ramón.
At Bela, the vineyard is the soul of our wines. Caring for it, understanding it, and interpreting it allows us to create elegant and refined expressions of Ribera del Duero. Though the region naturally yields powerful wines, we strive to transform that potential into finesse.
Each wine also honors our family heritage:
Bela: Made from the 74 hectares of estate vineyards in Villalba de Duero, this wine pays tribute to Sofía “Bela” Real de Asúa. Its label is inspired by an early 20th-century Monopole label from CVNE’s archives.
Finca Vallejo: A tribute to the founding family of CVNE and to the enduring legacy of the vineyard itself. Just like family, the vine endures over time.
Arano: Crafted from the high-altitude vineyards of Moradillo de Roa, renowned for their exceptional quality. The name is also a nod to family history—Eusebio’s son was named Ramón, and his mother’s surname was Arano. This wine is noted for its fruit-forward character and uniqueness.
Under the guidance of winemaker Sara Juan, with support from María Larrea, technical director of CVNE, Bela wines merge the roundness and balance of Rioja elegance with the strength and soul of Ribera del Duero, reflecting CVNE’s blend of tradition and innovation.
