Nestled between the rivers Judrio and Isonzo, Borgo San Daniele thrives in harmony with the surrounding nature. The winery is situated amidst woods, meadows, and a pristine landscape, all of which reflect the ethos of low environmental impact viticulture that has guided the estate since its inception. Founded on the principles of sustainability and care for the land, the winery emphasizes small-scale production, with every decision carefully calculated to yield limited yet refined bottles. By preserving traditional winemaking techniques, such as green pruning, indigenous yeasts, and manual harvesting, Borgo San Daniele aims to maintain the natural balance of the land and to ensure that each bottle encapsulates the unique soul of its terroir. Since 1990, the estate has embraced eco-friendly practices, creating wines that not only reflect the Friulian landscape but also the memories and history of the land.
Borgo San Daniele’s wines are a testament to its dedication to biodynamic principles and sustainable winemaking. Spread across 18 hectares, the vineyards are home to a selection of indigenous Friulian vines, including Malvasia, Friulano, Pinot Grigio, Sauvignon, Chardonnay, and Pinot Bianco. Each plot is meticulously cared for, with a focus on minimal intervention and the preservation of biological diversity. The winery uses traditional methods, such as the soleras technique, to recover and maintain the DNA of indigenous yeasts, ensuring that the wines retain their authentic character year after year.
