About Winery and Wines

In a sea of splendid vineyard hills, between Langhe & Monferrato in the heart of the UNESCO heritage area, stands the Bussi Piero Winery.

Immediately after the end of the First World War, grandfather Agostino, born in 1900, abandoned his father Nicola's custom of selling grapes to shopkeepers and began to vinify Barbera grapes and a small quantity of Bonarda. At that time, the company consisted of about 1.5 hectares of vineyards and when Germano Bussi took over in the 1960s, the number rose to four. The turning point came in 1968: due to the disastrous hailstorm of that year, they began to vinify Moscato grapes, a very demanding and tiring process considering the equipment of that time. The must obtained following hand pressing was, after clarification, filtered with the famous "Dutch bags", a very slow and laborious process. The results, however, were not long in coming and the desire to purchase other vineyard plots grew. Piero Bussi gradually entered the farm, currently run together with his son Federico, fourth generation, which today can count on 12 hectares of vineyards, focusing on the quality of the product, first in the vineyard and then in the cellar, using exclusively grapes from estate-owned vineyards.

Bussi Piero Winery produces a diverse range of wines, including Barbera d'Asti DOCG, Barbera d'Asti DOCG Superiore, Moscato d'Asti DOCG, Gamba di Pernice, Monferrato DOC Rosso, Monferrato DOC Dolcetto, Piemonte DOC Grignolino, Piemonte DOC Chardonnay, and Piemonte DOC Cortese.
