Cantina Museo ALbea

Winery in Itria Valley, Murge

About the Winery

Albea Winery, established at the turn of the 20th century, stands as one of the oldest and most respected wineries in the region, blending modern production techniques with a rich historical legacy. Located in the heart of Alberobello, our winery is a testament to the enduring traditions of winemaking in Puglia. The structure itself is entirely made of stone, with wine storage tanks carved deep into the rock, echoing the ancient methods once used for water cisterns. Today, Albea produces around 350,000 bottles of wine annually, catering to an international market. Our facilities are spread across two floors; the first houses our state-of-the-art production area, complete with stainless steel tanks, barrel storage, a bottling line, warehouse, and offices. The second floor is home to the Alberobello Wine Museum, a unique attraction that pays homage to the region's rich agricultural and oenological heritage. Visitors can explore a fascinating collection of ancient agricultural tools and photographs, offering a journey through the evolution of winemaking from ancient times to the sophisticated techniques of today.

About the Wines

At Albea Winery, we are dedicated to producing wines of exceptional quality, with a strong commitment to sustainability and meticulous attention to every step of the winemaking process—from the vineyard to the bottle. We focus exclusively on native grape varieties, which are the true essence of Puglia's terroir. Our portfolio includes the robust Primitivo, the structured Nero di Troia, the versatile Negroamaro, and the aromatic whites like Verdeca, Fiano, Bianco d'Alessano, and Maresco. Each wine we craft reflects our passion for authenticity and our respect for tradition, while also embracing the needs of modern consumers who seek wines that are both eco-friendly and expressive of their origin. At Albea, our mission is to preserve the legacy of Puglian viticulture while continuously looking towards the future.

A must do in Alberobello!
Nico was very professional during his tour, he was able to personalise the tour based on our experiences and wine knowledge. His kind nature and knowledge made for a great day. I recommend a tour of Alba for anyone that loves history, wine or culture.

Nice experience
My husband and I took a tour that included wine tasting and food options. It was a very nice experience and the guide was really nice. The wines we tasted were so good that we bought some to take home.

We enjoyed tasting the different wines and the pours were really generous.
As a suggestion, a separate glass for each wine.

An experience I would repeat
This is my first tasting in this fabulous territory, and I must say that I am leaving with a greater knowledge than I expected.
Valentina was very cordial, kind, and detailed in her explanations.
She manages to make you feel the passion she has for her work and makes the time pass very quickly.
The wines we tasted were all to our liking, the dishes, all local, were also remarkable.
Furthermore, an unexpected thing, the bottles were left available, which I really appreciated and I didn't let the opportunity to have a second, and a third glass, for a couple of wines slip by.
Overall a wonderful experience.
If I may offer a piece of advice, I would use a separate glass for each wine.

Great wines, food and atmosphere
My family and I attended a tour with wine tasting and food pairing and we really loved it. It was a very nice experience and the guide was lovely and full of energy. The wines that we tasted were so good, that we decided to order some to our house in Poland. We enjoyed tasting different types of wine and we could really feel the difference, e.g. the white wine that ages in the barrel tasted almost like whiskey for my brother
