About Winery and Wines
Cantine Pupillo is a historic winery founded in 1909 on the ancient fief of Targia, a land steeped in history with remnants of Greek, Roman, Arab, and Norman civilizations. This fertile soil, nestled in the heart of Sicily, has been renowned for centuries for producing exceptional fruits, vegetables, and most notably, wines of unparalleled quality. Nino Pupillo dedicated over two decades of his life to preserving the vineyards that have been in his family for generations, ensuring that the rich winemaking traditions of Targia continue to flourish.
Today, the Pupillo family proudly carries on this legacy. Nino’s children, Carmela and Sebastiano, have taken the helm, blending deep-rooted family traditions with modern, sustainable practices. Their commitment to the land and its heritage is evident in every aspect of their work, from the careful cultivation of the vines to the meticulous crafting of their wines. Visitors to Cantine Pupillo are invited to explore a winery where history, passion, and innovation come together, offering a truly unique experience in the enchanting landscape of Sicily.
At Cantine Pupillo, our wines are a celebration of the unique terroir of Targia and the dedication of our family to preserving and revitalizing the indigenous Moscato grape varietal. Each wine is crafted with the utmost care, reflecting the rich history and fertile land from which it originates.
Moscato di Siracusa DOC: This flagship wine is a pure expression of the Moscato grape, offering an aromatic bouquet with notes of citrus, honey, and floral undertones. It is a wine that embodies the essence of our land, with a perfect balance of sweetness and acidity that makes it both refreshing and complex.
Solacium: A sweet, late-harvest Moscato, Solacium is a luxurious dessert wine with intense flavors of dried fruits, apricots, and a hint of spice. It is a wine that captures the warmth and richness of the Sicilian sun, perfect for savoring on special occasions.
Pollio: This elegant red wine, made from Nero d’Avola, is a full-bodied expression of Sicily’s most famous grape. With rich flavors of dark berries, plums, and a touch of spice, Pollio offers a smooth and well-rounded palate, making it a versatile choice for pairing with a variety of dishes.
Re Federico: Another standout, this white wine is a blend of indigenous Sicilian grapes, showcasing a bright and lively character with notes of green apple, pear, and a touch of minerality. Re Federico is a wine that speaks to the diversity and vibrancy of our vineyards.
Each bottle from Cantine Pupillo is a testament to our commitment to quality and tradition, offering wine lovers a true taste of Sicily’s rich winemaking heritage.
