“Discover Bordeaux's forgotten grape varieties during this visit to Château Cazebonne!”

About Winery and Wines

Château Cazebonne is one of the oldest properties in the commune of Saint-Pierre de Mons. In 1700, the property belonged to Sir Pierre de Castelnau, the king's adviser and mayor of Langon. The organically farmed property now extends over 40 hectares.

The property includes 6 main areas with a wide variety of terroirs. Sands and silts bring finesse, and deep gravel and clay-limestone soils give complexity to the wines of Château Cazebonne. It is this variety of terroirs that allows the estate to offer you a complete range of wines with such different profiles.

Château Cazebonne has done a great deal of work in systematically replanting all the grape varieties that have made the history of Bordeaux, but most of which disappeared over time. Bordeaux used to have 48 grape varieties in the 19th century. thus the grape varieties used at the time were not limited to those adopted by the appellations in 1936. Since 2016, they were able to rediscover tastes that have been forgotten for more than a century.

Mancin, Castets, Bouchalès, Saint-Macaire, Petit Péjac... These names don't mean much to you yet, but these are local grape varieties that are replanted at Château Cazebonne to make you discover tastes that have been forgotten for more than a century. In total, the estate will be happy to introduce you to more than 25 grape varieties.

Whether white, red, rosé or sparkling, the sole ambition of the estate is to offer you a gourmet wine, that you will share with your friends. At Château Cazebonne you will discover plot cuvées, the estate's space of freedom, in authentic styles which will not leave you indifferent.
